JP
Soars and Ben
Prestage done real good last weekend. JP is a talented
son of a gun and turned the night into a party. Very impressed with
JP and the band. They'll be back. Ben simply shook the place! He's
the most unique and the "biggest" one man band I've seen.
Folks loved him and you'll be seeing him again on the corner stage.
Mighty good and fun stuff! He's found a home in the woods.
FSU plays its first
game of the season in Tallahassee this weekend. Win lose or draw,
we've got the music to entertain the home folks this weekend.
On smokeless Friday,
September 5, the Savannah soul man, Eric
Culberson & The Eric Culberson Blues Band returns with
his blue-eyed blues. He's a club favorite with deep Tallahassee
roots dating back many mango seasons. Eric does it all--string bendin'
blues guitar with feeling, soulful vocals that ooze the blues, songwriting
that tells the blues story, and stage presence that has earned him
a devoted following, particularly among the ladies (must be that
sexy smile). Sho 'nuff mighty fine soulful southern blues. Its one
of those bring your main squeeze and enjoy some romance under the
oaks type of nights. The show starts at 9:30. More info at: http://www.ericculberson.com
Advance tickets are $12 available at www.bradfordvilleblues.com,
and $12 for students and members of any Blues organization. Day
of show tickets are $14.
On Saturday,
September 6, Charles
Atkins Blues Band plays some mighty fine down-home blues.
Sir Charles is a true Tallahassee treasure, the heart and soul of
the Apalachee Blues Society, mentor to hundreds of musicians coast
to coast, leader of the FSU Blues Band, piano player extraordinaire,
singer, songwriter, author of The Florida Song, and one of the best
folks you'll ever meet. Charles covers the waterfront with his musical
styles, from straight ahead classic blues, to shuffles, R&B,
rags, gospel and soulful melodies. You never know what is gunna
come outta Charles' fingers when he sits down at the keys. And once
he takes the stage, he doesn't stop except to give his younger band
mates a rest. Charles is backed up by Adam Gaffney on bass, Deb
"Sweetgroove" Berlinger on percussion and Will Veader
working the fretboard. Be prepared to get down and funky starting
at 9:30. Advance tickets are only $8, available at www.bradfordvilleblues.com
. Students, members of any Blues organization and folks with game
day tickets from FAMU or FSU get in for $8. For all others, day
of show tickets are $10. More on Charles at: http://downhomebluesband.com/bio.html
Come on out and enjoy some homespun blues and show some love to
Charles and the band.

Ms. Ernestine will be
fryin' her fabulous fish this weekend so bring your appetite!
COMING UP IN
SEPTEMBER
We've got some really
good stuff coming in this month. Damn the footballs! Full speed
ahead!
J.B.'s
Zydeco Zoo throws down on Friday, Sept. 12.
Ain't nuttin' but a packed house dancin' party when the Zoo gets
loose! Yowza!
Great young Blues singer
Gina
Sicilia plays the BBC for the first time on Saturday
Sept. 13. FSU has a home game that night but we could not
pass up the opportunity to bring Gina to Tallahassee. Gina hails
from Philadelphia- or somewhere up north where they don't serve
sweet tea or cheese grits -and this lady has some pipes. Her first
cd was nominated for a Blues Music Award where she performed last
May in Memphis. Highly recommended. You probably haven't heard her
name yet but you won't forget it when you hear her sing. Check out
her music and see what I mean: http://www.myspace.com/ginasicilia
and at http://www.ginasicilia.com
A don't miss, folks.
Johnnie
Marshall gets down at the BBC on Friday, Sept. 19!
No need to go downtown to get down when Johnnie throws
down in the woods.
Andrew
"Jr. Boy" Jones comes to the club for the first
time since the Dave's CC days on Friday, Sept. 26.
We've been trying to get him away from Texas for some time but he
rarely gets this way. But perseverance pays off. This is jook joint
Blues at its very best! Gutbucket, low-down raw Blues that'll get
ya' offa that thing and shakin' your hips. Lend and ear to some
of his live recordings at: http://www.myspace.com/andrewjrboyjones
then get your tickets on line before they are gone! One of my favorite
Blues bands.
On Saturday,
Sept. 27, The
Joe Moss Band makes its first BBC appearance. Joe is
the younger brother of Nick Moss and it is obvious that musical
talent runs through the family. Out of Chicago, Joe and the band
keep true to traditional Chicago Blues with a contemporary flair.
Good stuff. Check them out: http://www.myspace.com/joemossband
and at http://www.joemossband.com/sounds.html
